The Week Ahead January 18 2020

The Week Ahead is a weekly post in which I track my life. All links are to Amazon unless otherwise noted.

What I read last week: Fellowship of the Ring by JRR Tolkin. Was expecting to finish this early last week but alas it was Friday when I finished. What a book!

Total books for the year: 1

What I'm currently reading: Solitude of Wolverines by Alice Henderson

Litsy: Finishing FOTR, Weekly Forecast/Book Report, and signed up for a readathon.

Watching: Absentia on Amazon Prime

Listening: Not much this week.

Plans for the week: Off today and tomorrow so hoping for some quality reading. Funky work week (2 on, 1 off, 1 on) may give me more time to read.

What was on the blog: FOTR finish post and last weeks Week Ahead.

Fellowship of the Ring

I've done it! First book of 2021 is done!

Fellowship of the Ring by JRR Tolkien has taken me 15 days to read. It was worth every hour.

I have nothing new to add to the discourse around Lord of the Rings. I will say, I am finally in a place to enjoy it. In my earlier years, I would not have had the patience this book requires.

What's next? Solitude of Wolverines. The first in a new series. Supposedly fast paced thriller which is what I am craving.

Then, I'm not sure but my reading pile is growing like this:

What's your first book of 2021?

Dewey Wrap Up

Well, it's time to wrap up Deweys. This was one of the best Dewey's I've had.

I took a scaled down approach this year. Besides taco soup, I didn't have any snacks planned-that will be differently next April. I spent time just relaxing in bed with games on my cell. I watched Mizzou and the World Series while reading.

It worked cause I stayed up till 1 am reading. I got two books finished-If You Tell and Lone Jack Trail. I got about halfway through Next to Last Stand. All three were really good reads and recommended.

Next Dewey's Readathon is April 24th and I have to work. I'll read after work and try to get some solid reading hours in. We'll see how that works.

Did you participate in Dewey's? How'd it go for you?

Dewey Update #3

Finished book #2! If You Tell by Gregg Olsen was shocking and disturbing true crime story.

I'm starting to yawn, so it's time to get up and move around. I'm going to put on some coffee and maybe get a snack. Nine is usually when I go to bed, so anything extra from here is just gravy.

Next up is Craig Johnson's Next to Last Stand. I love this series and am hoping it's just what I need to get in a couple more hours of reading.

How is your readathon going?

Dewey Update #2

 Good afternoon!

Book 1 is finally done! Lone Jack Trail by Owen Laukkanen was really good and book 2 in this series. Check out Deception Cove for the beginning of the series.

I've had snacks and lunch. Processed cheese spread and crackers, Munchos, and a breakfast bowl along with 3 cups of coffee so far. Taco soup is in the crock pot and slowly warming. That'll be dinner.

Gonna take a break for 20 minutes before picking my next book. Leaning towards If You Tell by Gregg Olsen.

At 3 pm, I'll turn on the Mizzou game and let it play in the background. Right now, Christmas music is my background music. I know it's early but I have so much Christmas music that I won't have to repeat an album and still have left over albums come Christmas-I have 352 Christmas albums in iTunes!

How's the readathon going for you?

Dewey Check In #1

Hello!

How's the first three hours treating you?

I've read for about an hour and a half before getting ready to get groceries. I do the Wal-Mart pick up so it was a matter of running over to get my groceries and back. As I put up groceries I set up ingredients for taco soup. It's meatless and cooks in the crock pot...can't wait for later in the readathon!

I went without coffee at 7 am because I was out of half and half. But now the coffee pot is beeping that it's done and as soon as I get this up, I'm getting a cup.

I've gotten 90 pages into Lone Jack Trail and am really enjoying the book.

What was your first book for readathon?
